Congratulations to Fort Dorchester High School students on finishing first in this year’s Build-A-Shed contest held at the Exchange Park Fairgrounds. Members from local high schools teamed up with local contractors to compete in this exciting event. All sheds are 8′ x 11′ and use the same blueprint. The event is designed to shed light on viable career opportunities available in the construction industry. The students are involved during the entire process which starts weeks before the actual build day. They learn the importance of planning, scheduling, quality, communication, teamwork, and safety. Cullum teamed up with Thompson Turner Construction and sponsored the Fort Dorchester High School team for this event. Cullum was represented by Jeff Throne, Brian Longwell, II and Mendi Arnold. Thompson Turner Construction was represented by Todd McElveen and Spencer Faw. Ben Bertolet represented Team Fort Dorchester. Congratulations to all on great teamwork and bringing home the hardware.
The sheds are auctioned off after the build to help raise money to support more events like this in the local schools.
